Macro Flowers-Saturday

Signs of spring are popping up all over even if Spring is having a hard time coming about. These little blossoms were starting too bloom on a bush in a local park, and now the weather has turned cold and ugly. I hope they can weather the cold and continue to bloom.

Skywatch Friday with Weekend Reflections

These photos were taken on a cool cloudy day where there wasn't any winds to stir the waters.
These apartment buildings reflected nicely with the grey skies in the lake water.

Watery Wednesday

Chilliwack River Rapids with a fast shutter speed:
And with a slow shutter speed.

I like to play around with the shutter speeds on my camera and see what I can produce.

Macro Monday

This past weekend my hubby took me to the Military Museum in Chilliwack. It is on the old grounds of CFB Chilliwack which used to be the old training grounds for the Canadian Army. In the museum was a set of Diaramas or models if you will of war scenes. If you like models or building them you would of loved to see these.

Each of these model battlefields  depicted an actual battle from the different wars, such as World
War 1 or World War 2. They were very well done, very detailed and life like. I took a lot of pictures and have as many that I have not put on here as are here. Maybe next week I will do another installment of those photos.

Today's Flowers with Macro Flowers Saturday

Signs of spring are blooming everywhere but you still aren't able to go out to the garden and pick a bouquet of tulips. They are sprouting but no flowers yet.
These tulips came from the market.
I love the colours of tulips. Mixing a variety of colours together makes for a beautiful bouquet.

I think you will see tulipl here a lot, they are one of my favorite spring time flowers.

And in the vase!

The Weekend in Black and White

Despite being a cold windy day, the sun was out and the sky was blue. It was a nice day to get out and about and we don't get too many of those in the winter. So we braved the freezing temps and the crazy wind and went out to take some photos.
This is out on the backside of Chilliwack following the Chilliwack River.
Picnic area beside the Chilliwack River.

There was a huge covered Camp area where cooking could be done. I wondered about all the cement blocks around the camp area, probably people have tryed driving through instead of around.

Here is Chilliwack River, along side of the picnic area. I took a lot more pictures playing with the shutter speed and I will post those in the coming days so come on back and see them too!

Sepia Scenes

I love gates. I am always curious to see what is on the other side, what it is that they are trying to keep us out of or what it is they are trying to keep in!
Some gates are small and inconspicuous and others big and grand. Like this gate for instance.
This gate was a garden gate, protecting a garden about an acre or so.

Macro Monday

I am seeing signs of impending spring everywhere lately. Snowdrops and some crocuses starting to bloom, sprouts from daffodils and tulips coming up.  Today I saw my first hummingbird. I could not get a picture other than silouette of the hummingbird as the sun was behind him and I didn't have the right lens on but I still got a picture, a sure sign of spring!
So it might not be technically a macro shot but it is the closest I could possibly get to it. I thought you might forgive me for that!

Today's Flowers

I have noticed signs of spring coming out all over in the past week. I found pussy willows yesterday but the wind was crazy and so hard to get a decent picture. I know where they are though, I'll be back!
Meanwhile, here are a couple of pictures of last years petunias for you.
These are such hardy flowers and look great in flower baskets.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day so we should get some flowers that will be before the camera!!!

Camera Critters

I have had these few pictures ready for this meme for quite a while now. I just kept forgetting to come here on the Saturday and put them on. Crazy I am sometimes....

Let sleeping dogs lie!

These are my neighbours puppies, they are a cross between Rotweiller and Husky dog. They were huge when they were born, and will be huge when full grown!

And finally for my brother Mark in Victoria, a fixed up photo of his cat Charlotte Grey. Her right eye caught the camera flash and was completely blown out so I fixed it for him. Charlotte Grey is a Diluted Calico cat. And probably a very spoiled kitty if I know my brother!

Sepia Scenes

In Saskatchewan, outside of Maple Creek, is the only winery located in Saskatchewan.
One of the outbuildings on the property.

Closer view.

I thought these buildings went well in Sepia.

Pretty big sky here, that day was really cold even though it was August of last year.

Path leading up to the Winery, to the left. This winery made fruit wines such as Apple, Cranberry, Strawberry and one of my favorite fruit wines, Rhubarb wine.
