Macro Monday meets Ruby Tuesday again.

This Macro Monday meets Ruby Tuesday is all about all the things you need when you get sick with the Flu and Cold.

Tylenol to knock the fever down and Entex LA is the best stuff ever invented to keep cold symptoms at bay.

Lemon flavored Fishermen Friends soothe the throat and help you breathe a bit better. Breathing is good.
Loose Leaf Tea from Celestial Teapot and lots of it to hydrate and soothe the sore throat. My little tea holder used to be my Mom's. It really reminds me of her, like a hug when you are feeling down.

Chocolate with little pieces of Toffee in it that my Hubby brought me. Chocolate always makes a girl feel better!

And Chocolate goes really well with Fresh Strawberries too, whether you dip them in the chocolate or eat them seperately. My hubby says its strictly for the Vitamin C but I know better!

And while you are curled up on the couch under a fleecy blanket, you need something to read. The latest Rachael Ray magazine, all about Comfort food and a couple of library books to choose from are the best!

Today's Flowers

There are little signs of Spring starting to pop up now, even though at times the temps are very low and cold. I saw Blossoms on a tree the other day, so I am feeling hopeful Spring is around the corner.
I mss the roses. So here are a couple of Rose photos for all who miss Spring like I do!
A little prelude to spring flowers!

Taco Seasoning Mix

I planned on making a Beef and  Black Bean Taco Dip for supper but didn't have any Taco Seasoning that the recipe called for, so decided to surf the net and find a recipe that I could make my own Taco Seasoning from.
I found this recipe on Allrecipes and did have to tweak it a bit to make it.
Taco Seasoning
1 TBSP. Chili powder
1/2 tsp. Paprika
1/4 tsp. Red Chili flakes
2 tsp. Ground Cumin
1/2 tsp. Oregano
1/4 tsp. Ground Garlic
1/4 tsp. Ground Onion Powder
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Pepper
Mix all of the ingredients together. Makes enough seasoning mix for 1 lb. of Ground meat.

I had to use Red Chili flakes rather than Cayenne pepper, and I also bumped up the Garlic as well. Can it ever be enough Garlic!!
I will find out later if this fits the bill! At supper time!

The Weekend in Black and White

Here are a few photos of the deeply forested areas in Golden Ears Park in Maple Ridge, B.C.
It was a cloudy, rainy dismal day when these were taken.

The fog was low lying in the forest, lending an ethereal quality to the forest.
The thick mossy vegetation on the forest floor and moss all over lended to the gloomy quality the cloudy day held.

Skywatch Friday

One of the things I really like about Photography is seeing things in different perspectives. You can see things in places not even where you would normally have to look.

An example of this would be looking into a mirror to see something reflected from out of the photo.

A lake on a calm day reflects the cloudy skies above along with the stark branches of a tree very well.

The sky was a late morning cloudy sky, with large bands of clouds hanging low over the mountains. It was drizzling rain just enough to have to use the wipers on the car but almost not enough to really need them.

And a photo of the entire scene, the tree, sky and its reflections in the water.

Watery Wednesday

My computer has been down for a few days, thus I have not been able to get at any of my photos until tonight. So these photos are a bit late, but better late than never!
You know I have a thing for waterdrops, I look for them everywhere.

And what is better than lots of raindrops?? Bokeh and raindrops!

Peanut Butter Wings

Peanut Butter Wings

One of my favorite things to cook for dinner is Chicken Wings. I have a bunch of different recipes, some of which I took out of a cook book at my brother Brian's place. He actually is the chef in the family and everything he cooks rocks!
These Peanut Butter wings are very easy to cook. You just combine all the ingredients of the sauce together and marinate the wings in it until you are ready to bake them. Then all that is left is to enjoy! Finger licking good!
Bake these in a 375 degree oven for about 35 minutes.

Sauce:
1/4 cup Peanut Butter
2 tsp. Curry Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Pepper
4 tbsp. Lemon Juice
Zest of one Lemon
1 tbsp. Brown Sugar
3 tbsp. Soy Sauce
2 tbsp. minced Fresh Ginger
3 large Cloves of Garlic, minced
1 tbsp. Peanut Oil
1/2 tsp. Hot Sauce
Combine all ingedients in a large bowl, and toss chicken wings in to marinate.
When you are ready to bake the Wings, cover a cookie sheet with Tin Foil and spread out the coated Chicken wings on the cookie sheet. Lining the sheet with the tin foil makes clean up so much easier!

Bake at 375 degrees for about 35 minutes. You won't believe how good it smells while it is cooking!

Garnish the Chicken Wings with Chopped Green Onions.
Roll up your sleeves and eat the Wings. You won't need a napkin because these wings are finger licking good!!
Try it out, you won't be sorry you did!

Skywatch Friday

SKYWATCH FRIDAY

Our last cold snap here brought bright blue skies, freezing temperatures and a good load of snow so here are some pictures we took down at Mill Lake in the downtown area.
The lake was half frozen, and the ducks and geese had a place to line up onto out of the water.

You can see the edge of the water and the frozen ice.

A few puffy clouds on the horizon.

A shot of how much snow was around that day.

The walking path around the lake covered with snow.

Blue sky through the bare tree branches.
When cold days such as this start to warm up, the cool air meets the warm air of the Pacific and usually ends up with the snow you see.

Watery Wednesday

I am sure everyone knows I have an affinity for Waterdrops. They fascinate me to see them and I am always on the lookout for them. I want to capture the perfect drop!!
I haven't done it yet, but I keep looking and keep trying.

Frozen in time, the drop remains suspended for a bit longer. It looks like a diamond pendant, nature's pendant!

Macro Monday followed by Ruby Tuesday

When my hubby and I go to White Rock, we have a favorite pub called "Charlie Don't Surf" that we always go to eat. It is right on the main road, across the street from the ocean. You can sit outside if you want or inside, which is where we sat on Saturday.
The pub is lit with these cool chandeliers all through the room. They even had one in the Girls washroom, but I didn't take a picture in there!

The walls are brick and scattered throughout are an eclectic mix of artwork adorning the walls.

This is the back corner of the pub across from where we were sitting. If you look closely in the mirror you can see me taking the photo!

The Weekend in Black and White

The Woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep,
And many miles before I sleep,
And many miles before I sleep.

Watery Wednesday

We had about a foot of snow over the past night, and now the temperatures are starting to rise again and the snow precipitation is turning to freezing rain. Things are starting to drip here.
I know I have taken better photos of waterdrops, but coffee breaks are only so long and the roof is far away!

I need to play with shutter speed to catch the drop in flight.

And there it goes.
