Sad Music Always makes me want to cry...

I could listen to my hubby play music all night. He is a gifted musician who plays just about every instument except a flute. He can't make his lips do the circle thing it takes to blow air across the hole in a flute to make the notes. Indian flutes are a different thing. He can handle those.
Maybe it is my mood but tonight what he is playing is making me sad and teary. What is going with that?? They say music is a universal language, you don't have to speak it to have it speak to you and what he is playing is hitting a melancholy place inside me. Maybe that is how he is feeling as well? I am going to have to ask him later, meanwhile I am going to listen and feel the music.
Take care everyone....

Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today.....
Outside my window: It is dark and cloudy out. And cold!!

I am thinking: That I have to be up early and should really be in bed. Its been a long day.

I am thankful: that tonight my children are safe and I know where they are.

From the kitchen: I just finished cleaning up after supper.

I am wearing: A pair of black Yoga pants and a grey sweater. And white socks!!

I am creating: a huge pile of laundry that needs my attention!!

I am going: To work in the morning and to bed after this is done!!

I am reading: A John Grisham book. A true life mystery book.

I am hoping: That my friend Wes who has been missing for the past 26 days now will be found safe and sound and this whole nightmare will come to an end on a happy note.

Around the house: The dryer is going, the cat is asleep on the couch, my hubby is working on his computer and I have a nice glass of wine to enjoy while I type this out.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Its a full five day week at work so just work, driving to and fro and sleep to get to the end of it.

Once again I have typed out the entire post and forgot to put a picture to share with everyone. Doh!!!!! So I have downloaded the picture and can not figure out how to get it from the top of the post down to the bottom of the post so it is going to be the first thing you get to see. This is some of the forested area of Hayward Park Hiking Trails we searched on this past weekend for my friend Wes. It's beautiful country to visit even for the reasons I found myself there on Saturday.

Skywatch Friday

For Skywatch Friday a couple of pictures taken from the side of the highway outside of Kamloops B.C. that I waited on while my hubby tryed to find me. They are SOOC shots, so not so colourful but then again, nothing in this area is really colourful. This is desert country so everything is 42 shades of brown and gray!! The colour in here is what is painted onto the different buildings.
Really, the scenery is beautiful and big. The sky is big, the landscape is big.

Enjoy the spring!!!

More Pictures of my Mom and family!

My Uncle Bob who is my last surviving Uncle has been going through old pictures of his and has found some more pictures that he has sent out to the rest of the family. I love seeing these old pictures and wonder about each of the stories that each one has to tell. I'll never get to ask my Mom about each of them but seeing them brings her memory a little bit closer to me. Here is Mom, and I am not sure who the baby is but maybe its me!! Uncle Bob was not sure if it was.
This picture is of my Grandfather, he is in the middle of the picture sitting down. Grandpa worked for the railroad and took care of the tracks. Here is a couple of his crew members.

Here is my Grandparents, uncles and my Mom with one of their dogs sitting on one of the railcars.

My Mom standing in a field of alpine flowers. Mom and the family lived in the Rocky Mountains at the base of Mount Robson.
My mother was a nurse. Here she is in her nursing Graduation Picture.
I often wonder at times when I look at these pictures if Mom managed to live the life she dreamed of when she was the little girl growing up in these pictures. Did she get to do all the things she wanted to do? What were those dreams she fulfilled or what dreams did she have that fell by the wayside. I wish to have known the person she was in these pictures as well as the person I did know her to be in the years I did know her.
I'd ask her these things now if I had the chance. I wish for my kids to have that opportunity now to ask me the questions while they still have the chance to ask me. I regret not having that chance.
I miss my Mom at times. Certain things remind me of that. Like these pictures.

Skywatch Friday

I have been down to downtown Vancouver a lot lately for Doctor's appointments and so have taken the Vancouver skyline pictures on some really nice sunny days and again here on a not so nice cloudy cold day. It snowed in the morning but melted quickly and we were left with gray rainy skies. Looking to the left into Vancouver.
Looking towards the right of Vancouver.
Looking far to the left, you can see the water in the background.

So we went to downtown Vancouver today for a Specialist's appointment for me today. It ended up being a waste of a day in that we got down to the Doctor's office in time, I filled out all the paperwork for the doctor and then a hospital emergency happened and he had to leave right away to perform surgery so my appointment got cancelled right away. What a waste of time to go there and gas and I had to take the day off as well to go to it.
Anywayss, after we left the doctor's office we happened upon this car parked just down the street from the building we were at.
A little grey haired lady was driving it and kindly let me take some pictures of her "work of art"
This is the hood of the vehicle. These are all toys glued onto the vehicle. This is the top of the car. Notice the little grey haired lady on the other side of the car!!
Another view of the top of the car.

A picture taken from the back of the car.
A picture taken from the front down the passenger side of her car.
Now if we had never gone downtown today for this cancelled appointment we would of never seen this cool car!!!
See, there is always silver linings to every storm cloud!!
Hope you all had a good day with your own surprises in store for you as well.

Some of this, Some of that

Its been so long I guess since I came to my blog with anything other than flowers on Sunday that I actually had to log in to gain access. I guess lately I have had more on my mind and have not come here to put any of it down. Do you ever have days like that? Or maybe a few days at a time.
So what is on my mind?? Here is the condensed jist of it for you.
1) My friend Wes is still missing. Tomorrow, Wednesday will be one week. Last Wednesday they found his last phone call on his cell phone was made at 1030am and between then and when he was supposed to show up for work at 300pm he disappeared. He also missed his doctor's appointment in between those times as well. Now this is totally not like him. He is dependable, punctual, reliable. His truck was found abandoned in a Provincial Park parking lot, the window broken and blood in the vehicle. An extensive search on the weekend of the whole area turned up nothing. It has been very cold here, the weather going down to minus 15 celcius with windchill factor and snow as well. If he is out there somewhere how can he live in that? I am so scared for him. Please keep saying a prayer for his return.
I went through this a couple of years ago when my son disappeared for 23 days. We had an international missing persons alert for him, missing posters everywhere, police and friends and strangers alike trying to find him and bring him home. For me, my hubby and my daughter this was singularily the most horrible thing we have ever gone through. It just about killed me and it changed me forever as well. My son is back now and for the most part is okay from it. So as a mom I know first hand what Wes's mom is feeling and I just want to find her and give her a big hug and tell her there is one person who can understand the terror she is living with right now.

2) I have another specialist's appointment tomorrow afternoon. This is the third in a month. And the MRI I had last month as well. More poking and prodding and waiting for results. I know it is not the last doctor either. Why last year when I really wanted to see a specialist, have investigative tests and I could not get any. Now they all come at once. It is stressful.

3) Hubby and I are looking into starting a business. Getting it all together is very exhaustive.

4) What did I do to my knee?? Everytime I stand on it today it yells. Lordy lordy...

So that is enough of this for one day. Onward and upward......

Missing Man

A friend of mine has gone missing. He works for the same company that I work for for the past 12 years. He went to Hayward Lake on Tuesday which is where his truck was found and has not been seen since. He was reported missing after he failed to show up for work, which is so unlike him.
Please say a prayer for his safety and that he is found alive. The weather is cold tonight, it is snowing in parts of the Fraser Valley and it will be his fourth day missing tonight.
Here is a news link to check out:
http://www.bclocalnews.com/news/Mission_Mounties_search_for_missing_man.html

His family must be going through hell. I know how they feel, I have been there myself. Please say a prayer or two.

A Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
Outside my window..... its dark out. It was a beautiful sunny warm day today and now its a warm slightly cloudy evening.

I am thinking.... of all I have to finish tomorrow at work. The price of four extra days off means the work kind of piles up!

I am thankful for...... having this house to share with my husband. A cozy place to come home to.

From the kitchen.... is Pasta with Eggplant Tomato Sauce and Sirloin Steak. Enough to to take to work tomorrow for lunch! Yum!!

I am wearing..... Black Yoga Pants and a grey sweater. And socks!

I am reading..... A how to book on Digital Photoshop. I will learn this skill someday!

I am hoping the weatherman is wrong about tomorrow and the rain stays away. One more day of sun please!!

I am hearing..... My hubby watching TV in the living room.

Around the house...... Outside are lots of signs of coming Spring. I saw a Hummingbird yesterday, crocuses and daffodils are showing in the garden, the grass is getting green. I want to get out in my yard and play!!

One of my favorite things..... Is climbing into a nicely made bed with a book and reading before snuggling down and going to sleep.

A few plans for the rest of the week..... Just work and Friday off again. Nothing earth shattering here this week.

A picture I thought I would share with you.... This is my Cat Speed. He is an indoor cat and managed to get outside yesterday. I thought he was sleeping upstairs so did not miss him for a couple of hours. Last time he made the big escape he was gone four days and came back injured. So I was very happy and thankful to find him outside right away and bring him home. I am so grateful he is safe.
