Hazy Shades of Winter

I'm ready for the coming of Spring. This winter has been long and cold, and I am looking forward to sunnier warmer temps.
And Daylight Savings, just two and a half weeks away. Longer days, lighter evenings.

Its a Wonderful World

Do these pictures look as cold as it was when they were taken? It snowed tiny little flakes all day yesterday and this is what accumulated from the snowfall. The snow is powdery and light, and did I mention cold!!
You can't make a snowball out of it to throw.

When you walk in it, the footsteps make a crunching sound.

It just compacts it down when you drive on it. And if you spun your wheels enough you could make a thin layer of ice.
This is our favorite park to visit in Medicine Hat. To get down to it you have to go down a steep winding long hill, with a drop off if you were so inclined to slide over the side on your way down.

You can see it is quite deserted out here because most people are too scared or is that too smart to attempt the hill down and then back up again!

The Sand cliffs across the water from Echodale park. The geese flying over the river.
One thing about snow on a sunny day, its so bright it almost hurts to really open your eyes.

Love the shadows.

The temperature today is -8Celcius, in other words Cold!

I think these winter pics of Echodale are just one example of What a Wonderful World it is we live in!!

Moments

Its been an exciting week here. I finally got rid of my crutches last week, which is a huge step in recovery, pardon the pun! A few flare ups in pain but so far its all good. So nice to be free of those crutches.
My brother Brian was out for a visit from his home town of Victoria. He was here for a week. We took him to the airport today for his flight home. The week's visit went by so fast, its hard to believe sometimes how fast time flies!
And my brand new Niece Kenedee was born yesterday! She kept everyone waiting a week past due date and finally made her entrance yesterday evening.  Hubby and I went up to the hospital today after dropping Brian off at the airport to finally meet this little one!
And almost overnight Autumn has arrived. Fall colours are everywhere. These few pictures were taken outside of the airport terminal. One thing about chain link fences that always seem to attract my eye is all the things that get caught in the links. Things that should of moved on long ago but just seems to stick around. We all have moments like that, we can't seem to let some things go.

There are some moments that we should keep tucked away forever as well.
I will keep that moment I first laid eyes on my niece Kenedee, saw that little shock of dark hair on her little head, her pink skin, the tiny folds under her neck, her little ears. Her beautiful blue eyes. I won't get that moment again,  and I will treasure that little gift!

I'll have some photos in later posts of her, come back later and check it out!

Purple heals my blues

Its been so hard to even think about getting out with my camera to take pictures since breaking my leg three weeks ago. Walking with a cast and crutches has been very awkward, and carrying a full camera bag didn't thrill me a lot. Consequently, I missed my Tuesday project 52 photo, but here it is better late than never!!
Hubby and I went out today, first time with my camera and went to a local park. Not much walking required, or rather navigating with crutches, we found a nice bed of flowers with a bench around it, and I got some pics.

We also found a park bench by the lake and watched swimmers brave the water, seagulls fight for Pizza and dogs walking their people!!
I know I am breaking a few rules of composition, but I kind of like the off kiltered way of cropping I chose for these flower shots. It fits my off kilter way of getting around right now!

Finally a close up for you.
I am going to the Specialist on Tuesday and will have some more X-rays, close up shots of my broken bone to find out how its healing. I hope well, and that I will only have a few more weeks of inconvenience to go through.

Blue Flowers

I am posting a few more photos of Blue roses for you all to enjoy.
Winter has been long and a bit lingering, so to enjoy some flowers right now, we head out to the store.
Bright blue against a background of white Baby's Breath, gorgeous!

We have to rely on store bought bouquets of flowers here, as Spring is slow to arrive here. Things are greening up a bit, and you can see the beginnings of Tulip and Daffodils growing, but flowers are only found in a flower shop at this time!

It shouldn't be long though and flowers will appear!!

Dreams of Spring Coming

There is beauty in the dried, the dead, the withered.
There is beauty in the old.
There is beauty in the past, and hope for the future.
Nestled amongst the patches of ice, shards of broken pottery and cracked cement the remains of grasses and weeds.

Autumn golds and silvers.
