Watery Wednesday

I am back home from my out of town holiday and I had a wonderful time. We went to a lot of different places I have never been before, ate lots of good food and had good visits with family. I have lots of photos that are still on my camera and will get them off to the computer in the next couple of days. I have my son visiting here and my daughter will be here on the weekend so I will still be busy. Have to get my share of them now while they are visiting before they go back home and I won't see them again until next time.

A sunset water scene at Whiterock.

Skywatch Friday - Alberta Sky

In Medicine Hat we went to Echodale Park to walk, along the South Saskatchewan River. The fall colours were beautiful to see.

My sister Elaine and brother in law Ron were out enjoying the day with me.

The skies were lightly clouded and the temperature was warm. A bit of a wind blew.

Some knarly looking trees against a blue sky backdrop.

Across the river is the small town of Redcliff where my daughter just moved to and where my son Eric also lives.

The Red Cliffs across the river were originally mined for their red stone and clay. It was used in the making of bricks and pottery.  Hence how the town of Redcliff got its name.

The picnic area of Echodale Park was awash in crisp fallen leaves. I had to shuffle through the lot of them!

Sunset over the houses behind my daughter Lora's new place.

Looking to the left in the back of Lora's place. The sunset was gorgeous. A beautiful end to a beautiful day.

Skywatch Friday

The other night I stuck my head out the back door and saw this sunset. I ran and grabbed my camera fast and snapped a few quick pictures.
In a matter of a few minutes the colour started to fade.

It gets dark so early now that Fall is approaching, you have to look to the skies a bit earlier each night to catch glimpses of beautiful sunsets.

Watery Wednesday

What better thing to do on a beautiful summer evening than to sit on a park bench and watch the sun go down over the ocean.

Skywatch Friday

We have had such a dry summer with hardly any rain to speak of since June. Our province has over 300 forest fires burning as a result and at times the smoke is carried from its place of origin and down with the winds to the coast where I live. The air quality can be bad but the smoke particles in the air can make for some awesome sunsets.
This is taken at White Rock, B.C.

Taken later in the evening.

Watery Wednesday

For the past few days my friend Jane has been visiting from Las Vegas. We have been trying to squeeze in as much in the few days we have as we can. We had to take her to the ocean of course so my water pictures today are from our travels!
It was a beautiful and sunny day, a great day to be on the water. This is in Steveston Marina where we went to have Fish and Chips right down on a floating dock at the Marina. Lots of boats out and about.

We went right down on the docks to walk around. Took quite a few pictures of the boats moored at the docks.

One of the docks we wandered along.

After we left Steveston, we went to Crescent Beach to watch the sunset over the ocean. There have been many forest fires in B.C. so the air has lots of smoke particles in it and the sunsets have been very colourful as a result.

Skywatch Friday

The sky looks extra cool when you put Midway rides from the Fair in the picture as well!!
This was taken from the Bleachers where we sat and watched the Rodeo. The midway was to the right of us. The sky was kind of hazy and it was a warm day.

A little later in the early evening when we were leaving, we took these closer up pictures, the sky behind is still a bit hazy but blue sky.

And a full view for you!!

Skywatch Friday

This is the view from Prospect Point in Stanley Park, in Vancouver, B.C.
You can see the boat from my previous post here in the water.
The sun setting on the water.

I like the rays of the sun shining through the clouds.

Skywatch Friday

Last weekend at Pitt Polder Lake the sun was on its way down. I took this picture of the sky in colour but thought as well that the sky would look kind of awesome as well in Black and White.
I have been playing with the black and white feature of my camera lately, and trying all sorts of pictures with it. I think it makes the sky a bit more moodier and stormy.

Skywatch Friday

For Skywatch Friday, I took some pictures in the Sports Park just behind my house. It is a brand new park, still closed actually, and it has a walking trail around the entire park that I was standing on when I took these shots. This first picture is actually over my house, its there really it is!! It was also a night of a beautiful full moon. Very cold out and the sky was clear.
I got home from work with just enough time to grab my camera and take all these pictures, hand holding the camera. I didn't have time to drag out the tripod, unfortunately.

Consequently, the moon looks like a light, no definition on the surface. But you can get an idea how huge the moon was in the sky.
It has since clouded over and they are calling for some snow later on tonight and tomorrow morning. I love the cold clear days but snow does nothing for me.....

Skywatch Friday

This sunset was taken on the fly tonight on the way home. It was taken while travelling over one of the bridges over Fraser River. No time to compose the picture, we were travelling 50 miles per hour!!! This next picture was taken downtown Vancouver and the mountains in the background are the Golden Ears. The sky was blue and it was very sunny, the sun reflecting off the new snow we had received the day before.

Skywatch Friday

This is the evening sky taken at my friend Sherri's place from her garden. I love the rays of light coming from behind the mountain and the silver linings of the clouds. This is the same sky taken from a different angle and different setting.
Neither picture is touched up with Photoshop. It's just as it came from the camera.
(I am still figuring out that photoshop!!)
Enjoy!!!

Warm Summer Night in the Gardens.

My neighbour and I were invited to her sister's house last night to see the gardens and have some wine. Her sister, Sherri has one acre property right on the river with a beautiful garden in the back that borders farmer's corn fields. The night was warm and the sky partly cloudy and as the first picture shows it was an awesome sunset. The rays of light and the silver linings were great.
We sat in Adarondac chairs in front of the pond and had snacks and wine and visited.
The pond is stocked with Koi fish as well. They used to have problems with the herons coming by and helping themselves to the fish. You can see a few fish in the water above.
I do have a lot more pictures but I am just getting the hang of uploading pictures and this is my second attempt at it for this post. I am still trying to figure out how to get them in the right order!! I'll post more later on.

Skywatch Friday again!!

Do you see a pattern here? I love the sun as it sets shining through trees and the water. This is down at Whiterock overlooking the ocean as the sunsets. We were sitting at an outdoor cafe across the street enjoying some icecream when this picture presented itself. Hope you enjoy it!!

Skywatch Friday

Trying my hand at Skywatch Friday. This was taken at our local park catching the last of the summer day sun through the trees.
