Hubby and I were out yesterday driving around the town, trying to learn our way here and there in new surroundings. We had seen a walkway that came down the side of a hill, spanned over the road we were travelling on, and continued down the side of the hill on the other side of the road. At the top of the section spanning the road was a Lookout that we wanted to get to, as the view of the town from the lookout was awesome.
We had seen the twin spiers of this Church from a distance as we were passing under the walkway we were trying to access, so of course we had to go immediately to find out this little photographic gem, putting off the finding of the start of the walkway in the process.
This is the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Medicine Hat. Its huge gothic structure looked kind of out of place in the older residential nieghbourhood it sat in. It was kind of imposing to say the least!
The light was getting sweet just after we arrived, streaming in from behind where I stood to take this shot.
It was lighting up the stained glass windows. I had to run to the front and see if the doors were unlocked to get in.
I could see inside the streams of colored light pooling over the pews and the alter of the church. The light glowed and here was me stuck on the outside.
One of the stained glass windows of the Church.
We never found the walkway, and we didn't gain access to the inside of the church, but still managed to catch a few photos and now have a couple of goals to pursue in the coming days!!
Bare tree branches against a blue sky.
