The Things You Find

If you check out my last post here for Macro Monday, you will see pictures of some of the finds I found in the Antique store my hubby and I visited this past weekend. I have so many memories of my past just seeing some of the stuff in these stores. I would never buy them for my house but they do evoke memories of moments past. You can't buy those moments back, they are meant to be in our past and they do form a part of our foundation today in our everyday lives. They influence how we decorate our homes, how we dress, how we cook and what we cook with, how we interact with people, they influence it all. We are made up of everything and everyone who came before us.
So when I turned a corner in the Antique Store and looked to my left and saw this next picture, I stood there I am sure with my mouth open and my eyes wide.
How the heck did my Aunty Lill's living room get into this store?? This Sectional was just like the one in her living room, complete with the coffee table and with those ugly standup ashtrays at each end of the couch. See the center of the couch, the little cupboard in the center? She kept her TV Guide in there. And on the end of each couch where the built in coffee table is, was where she put her teacup and her latest Harlequin romance book. The ugly olive green velour upholstery and the patterned cushions. I felt like I was having a de'ja vu moment. It hurtled me back 30 plus years to her house on Crease Ave. And if I had tea there, it was in those green mugs that were all the rage then. I almost expected my Aunt Lill to come around the corner from the kitchen and give me heck for waiting so long to visit her.
Have you ever had a de'ja vu moment in your life that took you right back to a simpler familiar time??

Macro Monday

One of the things I like about exploring old Antique Stores is that I always see something that brings back a memory or two. I really think they do not make things like they used to, stuff that will stand the test of time and last so long over the years. I wonder if you will see any of my stuff on the dusty shelves of some mildewy crowded old Antique store in the decades to come. Anyways, here are a few familiar pictures from our trip through an Antique store yesterday.
I don't remember this camera specifically, but i did pose in front of a few cameras of my parents once or twice!!

The neighbourhood corner grocery store had one of these on the counter. It was one of those Mom and Pop stores, with all the penny candy just to the left of the entry door. That held more appeal to our young selves than the cash register ever did.

We used to have these disks that were inserted into a viewing device, can't remember the name of it right now.

Old beaded lightshades.

And something that just intrigued me, a Gin dispenser. Fill it full of gin and use the dispenser to pour your gin into your cup.
It's always a walk through memory lane to go to an Antique store. I see things there from long ago that remind me now of family and friends long gone.

Today's Flowers

A little bit of Red and White for you today from Minter Gardens in  Chilliwack.
These little red blooms are actually from a large bundle. I don't know what the flower is but I liked these tiny red blooms!!

Minter Gardens has a beautiful rose garden. It is a bit of a maze to go through, and I think if you could look at it from above it would look like the layers of the rose itself. In the center of the rose garden is a round covered pagoda to sit in and enjoy the garden.

Watery Wednesday

Can I have a moment of your time!
Have you got a moment?
Give me a moment!!
Just a moment!
One of the wonderful things about Photography is that it takes a moment of time and freezes it. It's about the moment! And a moment is something that comes and goes, is fleeting and I think is what makes us all the people, the person we are.We are made up of all the moments in our lives.
Moments are like these drops of water. Each drop a moment, and each moment gone in a flash into the collective.

Its hard to see what each moment taken one at a time can form when looked at separately. Like waterdrops each drop can be separate and join together with other drops to form a fountain.

We can take each moment and see it, experience it, follow it and watch it become that which it is supposed to become, learn from it and see it added to the collective. Become the fountain, full of waterdrop moments that fill our lives.

We can ignore the moments, and like the waterdrops, they rise one at a time, fall and join the fountain and fall towards the pool, where they disappear forever into the pool. I guess each moment is up to us, will we be present or will our moments fall to the pool, not gone forever, but forever changed.

My World Tuesday - Abbotsford Rodeo

Every year our city has a Agricultural/Recreational Fair and Rodeo. this year marked the 100th Anniversary of the fair. Lots to see and lots to do at the fair. Lots to eat as well!! These next pictures are all from the Rodeo. Hard to believe but this is only the second rodeo I have ever been too. And I have lived in this town for years....
The evening's events started with the Ladies Grand Entry and the singing of the National Anthem.

There is Ladies Barrel Riding.

This horse shyed away from the barrels and would not go around them.

There is Men's Bronco Riding. This guy did not last long!!

A 12 year old Cowboy riding a Broncing Bull.

And then there is Calf Roping.

The Calf that managed to slip past the rope!

Every Rodeo has to have a clown and the Clown even has a Horse.

The Mighty Tug of War.

This horse did not want to come out of the stall and do his thing. He just stood there.

And then finally, some Steer Catching, or whatever they would call it. Come along side of the steer and fall off your horse onto its head and flip it to the ground.

Double Shot!! Macro Monday and Color Carnival

My hubby has an extensive toy collection. One of the things he likes to collect are Pez dispensers. He has quite a lot of them, some form series and others just individual. He likes to collect them so he has one mint in the box and one he can open and use and display. Here are a couple of pictures of his various Pez dispensers from the Loony Tunes collection.
This is Marvin the Martian Pez dispenser. I think it is one of my hubby's favorite dispensers. It's also very rare to find these particular dispensers.

The whole collection here. Just of the Loony Tunes collection.

For Today's Flowers, I have a couple of flowers taken while I visited Minter Gardens in Chilliwack.
It was kind of a blurry picture but I liked the opening bloom so I added a bit of texture to it.

A yellow Day Lily got the same treatment!!
