Project 52 - Halloween

Project 52 - p52 weekly photo challenge with Kent Weakley
This is one theme I am totally not prepared for. My camera hasn't been out of its bag for two weeks now. Not one picture of the entire festive day was taken.
I swiped this photo from my friend Ralph's facebook page and it is a pic of all the pumpkins we carved at their recent Pumpkin Carving party the weekend before Halloween.
The pumpkin I carved bottom row, third from the right is a fish. Usually I bring my camera to this party but didn't this year.
The pumpkin directly above mine, the Kiss pumpkin won the contest this year.
Basically I missed Halloween. I have had the bug from hell since after the party. Never had a sore throat like I have right now before, it won't go away and last night my Vertigo kicked in so its been rotten to say the least.
I think it is time for some reinforcements, some antibiotics or something. The med for the Vertigo can only be got at the doctor's. I think its time to admit defeat and bring in the big guns.

I'll leave you with a photo from our last walk in the forest. The colours are awesome this fall.

Project 52 - Leaves

Project 52 - p52 weekly photo challenge with Kent Weakley
I love walking through the woods on a cool Fall day. Its one of the places where the beauty and colour of the season really is evident.
Scenic Sunday
The forest paths are covered in fallen leaves, the colours are awesome. The air smells fresh.

Camera Critters
Squirrels are preparing for the long winter. We always have a packet of peanuts to pass out.
Being in the rainforest belt, unfortunately the leaves are always wet. The ground is wet, the air is damp and so the leaves never get to dry out and crisp up. I do miss shuffling through a path of dry crunchy leaves and hearing the crunch underfoot.
In fact the day when these were taken, it was raining.

My mind keeps coming back to the poem
"The Woods were silent, Dark and Deep"
These woods were not silent. If you listened closely there was a buzz of activity in progress. Even with all the people besides us that were out enjoying the fall day, the woods would not of been silent!
Shadow Shot Sunday 2
I love that the photos I took captured one small moment in the Forest life. It will not look like this ever again. It was a fleeting moment to experience and the next time I visit here it will be a totally different experience. Its always new.

Garden Finds

My daughter is in town for a couple of days and on one of the days we went out for lunch at Tanglebank, which is a huge nursery and garden with a newly built bistro. We wandered around the gardens and I took these two photos while we walked.
These roses were gorgeous, sad they won't be around in a short while.

Project 52 - Endless Summer

Project 52 - p52 weekly photo challenge with Kent Weakley
The other day at Mill Lake we met a couple named Ray and Wanda, who brought thier two remote control Sailboats down to the lake to sail. We struck up a conversation with them and ended up staying for about four hours sailing boats and visiting.
This is Wanda's sailboat. She doesn't have a name yet for her boat and she was adamant that she did not like the black painted on the boat!
Both her boat and Ray's boat were built by Ray. He uses his boat to sail in Competitions and last week said he brought home a silver!
Skywatch Friday
Gorgeous day for sailing! The temperature was perfect and the sky lightly cloudy. It was one of those endless summer days you could enjoy day after day!
Ray's boat is called the Wild Thing! It was sleek and swift and I am sure its name had something to do with his personality!

This is Wanda. She is in her late seventies and told me that her and Ray were going to be celebrating thier 50th Anniversary in a couple of weeks. He called her Honey and fussed over her.
Click to see the rules and to take a badge for yourself.
And Ray is 80 years young. He was very spry and strong. He was protective over his boats and refused any help getting them in and out of the water and he was attentive and caring to Wanda.
We shared stories and pieces of each of our lives with them and came away at the end of the day much better for having shared our time with them.
Its one of the things I enjoy about endless summers. The weather is fine and people are out and about. You never know who you will meet and what you will enjoy!

Abbotsford Airshow

P52 with Kent Weakley
Every year we wait for the second August weekend for the Abbotsford Airshow. This is the 30th year for the Airshow and even though we never actually go the airshow, we weren't going to miss it! Our friends, Janice and Frank live on a large farm a couple miles from the airport and that was where we went to see the show.
Hubby and I are not one for big crowds and hot tarmac so we don't actually like going to the airport for it.
We sat outside in thier front yard, and watched the planes, while having a good visit, a bit of wine and shade from thier big oak trees to rest in away from the heat. It is one of Summer's favorite things to do!
These are the American Thunderbirds, flying in formation.

Loved watching the jetstreams as they flew in formation!

This particular formation is in honour of the fallen soldiers. The lone plane flying away from the formation signifies those fallen soldiers.
Starburst formation breakaway. They all fly in formation and then all break away in different directions with jetstream going.

You can see in the background the hazy Mt. Baker.
A few more of the different war planes flying.
I think this is a Spitfire, but I am not certain.
Fighter Jet and a Warplane flying in formation.
Some arieal acrobatics!
Comox Search and Rescue Plane.

I caught a photo of the afterburners on this Jet as he flew past us.
This guy was low and loud!

These photos are all straight out of the Camera (SOOC)
We missed the Canadian Snowbirds but are thinking of going back tomorrow to Janice and Frank's place and catching them as well.
