Cold Winter's Day
Oh and do I mean cold!! It is -26 Celcius with a windchill that brings down the temperature to -33 degrees.
These photos come from one of our local parks, called Strathcona Park. It is located along the Saskatchewan River and has beautiful walking trails that follow along the river. It is only about 5 kilometers from our house too, what could be better than that!
Quite a few of the walking paths have cute little bridges to go over.

Calgary Reflections
I went on a short road trip with my daughter to Calgary, Alberta for her eye appointment.
We had been worried about the weather conditions for the day we left because it had snowed quite heavily a couple days before we had to go.
It ended up to be a very nice day, cold though but no snow fell for our trip. The skies were quite grey and heavy when we left for Calgary, but the closer we got the better the weather was.
We had to go right into downtown Calgary amongst all the highrises and narrow busy streets typical of the inner city. We parked and walked the short distance to the building she had to go to for her appointment. These were the towering structures we walked by.

I loved the reflections of other buildings and the sky in the windows of the highrises.

This huge sculpture was in the front of one of the buildings receiving a facelift!
I took all these photos with my little Sony point and shoot, and really wished I had my Nikon to try and do these a bit more justice! Capture the hugeness of these buildings!
A couple of places we traveled through gave me a bit of a feeling of claustrophobia for their sheer size!

Roadtrip part 2
These photos were taken this week on our road trip to Alberta from our home in Western B.C. They were taken out the car window while travelling 50 miles an hour down the road and all are straight out of the camera. No opportunity to straighten that crooked horizon!
I had to duck and dodge my Hubby while he was driving and try not to distract his concentration on the road. The roads were slushy and slippery with built up compact snow patches so he needed to keep his focus on the road!
It was a cloudy day and occasional snowflakes coming down.
The water was still and calm, making the reflections in the lake almost mirror-like.
This area is between Salmon Arm and Sicamous in the interior of B.C.
We arrived safely at our destination and I have a lot more pictures to show over the next few days. Who knows, maybe seeing some of these photos will make you put visiting B.C. one of the things to do on your bucket list!!!
It is a gorgeous country!

One thing we have had our share of lately is rain. And more rain! And more....
It sure is good for catching water drops though!
This water drop reflects our back fence and the row of trees along the fence.
I don't know what these grass stalks are, but they really hold the water! Click on the photo and see the reflections in the drops!
The name of this blog will tell you I am loving water drops! My never ending challenge is to get a perfect reflection, and I haven't managed that yet!

One of the things I am trying to make myself do is to change my header photo. Should be simple! Sounds simple. Some would say I don't like change! But 2013 is definitely my year of change.
Our house is sold and move out day is three weeks away. We are living amongst boxes as we go about the chore of packing and sorting, keeping and giving away. We are simplifying and downsizing and lessening the load. It feels good, the further we go.
The idea of change on such a big scale is daunting, and here I am resisting the simple act of changing my blog header picture! Go figure!
This year my New Year's resolution is "Reconnect"
I feel like these drops at times. Clinging on to a fine wire, any movement will shake me loose and make me fall. The wind can buffet my position and the heat can dry me up. Any change can come along and send me for a loop.
Its a risk to take a chance, make a change. I'm trying to embrace it, hell, I am embracing it!!
2013 is my year!

Project 52 - Merry Christmas!
This week's prompt Merry Christmas was a bit of a difficulty for me, because we did not do Christmas in our house this year. Our decorations are somewhere in storage and because none of our kids was able to make it to this neck of the woods for Christmas we opted not to celebrate at this time and postpone our celebrations with them until February when we will be seeing the family.
If you look down at the last couple of posts, these photos were taken of someone else's celebrations, some of the Christmas tree and decorations at my work, and Christmas light photos we took on a drive one night. I love looking at Christmas lights!
In our neck of the woods, we have had a Green Christmas. It did try to snow a bit the day before Christmas, but it was wet and slushy stuff that melted quickly by the afternoon. Green Christmas's are usually the norm for us here. Lots of rain too, hence the water drops!
Love the creamy bokeh backgrounds you get when you focus on the water drop!
Its a bit of an ongoing challenge for me to take photos of waterdrops, where you can actually see something in the waterdrop!
I worked all through Christmas and will work through New Year's as well. Love to let others with children have the time off for their Christmas instead.

Our New Year is full of new and unknown possibilities, starting first with moving at the end of January. That will be an adventure!!

It was a wet Saturday last weekend and we were out looking for Eagles. Never found an eagle perched in a tree but did see many eagles in the sky.

Project 52 - Cool Evenings
Cool evening stroll along the White Rock Pier.
You can really notice the difference in temp when the sun starts to go down, especially on clear nights.
Love the reflections of the coloured lights along the shoreline.
