Watery Wednesday

Well, we are back from our mini holiday to Campbell River now and we had a great time. It was so nice to get away for a few days and see my cousins as well. It has been about 8 years or so since I was last up in Campbell River. Here are a few pictures taken at Departure Bay as we were waiting for the Ferry to take us over to Vancouver Island.

The Marina on the outskirts of the Ferry Terminal. Once, a Ferry lost control when coming into the harbour and took out a lot of the boats here in the marina. No one was hurt at the time.

Another view of a section of the Marina....

The Ferry heading out here to Nanaimo.

Watery Wednesday

The other day when we went to Minter Gardens for the day and got rained out, we did manage to get some watery pictures before we got chased away with the rain!
A garden shed at the top of the hill, and a beautiful waterfall cascading down the hill.
The lower portion of the waterfall.

Road Accidents Compilation

I don't usually share videos on my blog. I found this video and watched it earlier in the day. It was one one of the most shocking, sobering sad disheartening graphic videos I have ever seen. In its seven minutes it moved me from shock, disbelief, tears and grief that this kind of carnage really goes on on our roads. I should know it too, I worked for years in Ambulance Services.

Please drive safely on our roads. You have precious cargo in your vehicle and so do I. So what if it takes you an extra minute to arrive at your destination, at least you will arrive there. Slow down, people. For God's sake, slow down.

Macro Monday

By accident we found a Ukrainian Festival this weekend to go to see. When I think of Ukrainian, I think of Perogies and I think of Easter eggs.
I experienced both of them, but I didn't take pictures of the perogies I ate!! So here is a picture of the eggs instead. My hubby bought me seven decorated eggs, and here are a few of them.
I collect eggs and have for quite a few years. Some of these eggs have been in my collection for a bit.

Today's Flowers

Yesterday we went out to Minter Gardens in Chilliwack to spend the day. Unfortunately the weather had completely different plans for us and about five minutes after arriving it started to rain. And rain. And more rain.... We bought our season's passes so if we had to leave because of the rain it was not going to be heartbreaking. We went to the restaurant and had some lunch, sitting inside in warmth and dryness watching the rain fall, finally deciding it was not going to stop and left after lunch. About ten miles down the road of course the rain stopped and the sun came out but by then we had discovered a Ukrainian Festival and we spent the rest of the day there.
We did manage to snap some flowers pictures inside the entrance of Minter Gardens though. Salvia in a container garden.
Delicate budding flowers of Hens and Chicks.
