I Have a Heart or Two

Check out Random Hearts at http://clytie-randomhearts.blogspot.com/
Have you ever carved yours and your lovers name in a heart on a tree? There are a few people here who did just that!
Check out This and That Thursday at http://www.debduty.com/
I was taking some photos of birds and had leaned up  against these tree trunks without noticing the carvings of hearts and initials in the tree bark. When I moved away from that spot I noticed these!

The hearts and initials added some more rough textures to the already rough surfaces of the tree bark.

All about the Birds

Ruby Tuesday 2
Hubby and I went to Campbell Lake Park last weekend and the whole place was a-twitter with birds. Now I only know that I love to see birds and love to feed them as well but as far as what kind of birds or the name of birds I don't know.

This bird was sitting along the side of the walkway. Loved the red eyes!

This little fat bird was perched on the bare red branches, watching me as much as I watched him!

And they have to have someplace to live and raise a family!!
If anyone knows the names of these birds, can you let me know!!

Project 52 - Be Still

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com
At times it seems that I am always rushing here and there, busy with more things than I really have time for, and trying to figure out what needs to be dealt with before other things, and consequently not getting too much done in any timely fashion. I stay up too late to fit more things into the day, or I stay awake running things over in my head when I should be sleeping. Either way I lose sleep. At times my body will give me a couple of signals that I am on a slippery slope, such as an ache or two in the back or shoulder or a headache. You probably can understand that. If I ignore those little clues they get a bit bigger. Somehow I get to a spot where I have to pay attention.
My house is a good indication of where my mind is at. At times its cluttered, things don't end up in thier place, little chores get put off, and soon its a major thing. I have to roll up my sleeves, and just get it done and my mind is still again. I can "work" through a lot of things while I work through my house!
And then can I surround myself with those things that calm me, the things that are soothing and calming to my eye and to my soul.
Every home should have a sunny window, a pot of flowers, and a clear path to the stillness within.

A Little of This and A Little of That

Linking up with http://www.debduty.com/
Do any of you have one of those folders on your computer that contains all the photos you have taken and prepared to go on your blog, but they never quite made it there?
I have one and here are some of the photos that are in that folder that I am sharing today. Its time to clean up that folder a bit and share some of the photos of Winter I have taken and make room for Spring!
My hubby and I went to visit our Community Garden on a nice sunny day and found these old dried up Artichoke Heads still on thier woody stalks. I thought they looked like ancient flowers, and are beautiful even though they never made it to anyone's dinner plate!
We found these Purple berries before Christmas on a Shopping trip. We went on a Craft crawl to all sorts of different crafting stores, and outside one of these stores, we found a large bush covered with these purple berries. We thought it was so cool to see this wonderful splash of colour in the middle of winter!
I am continuously teaching myself about adding Textures to my photos and these are examples of that!
These thistles are a wonderful Earth colour! I would paint walls in my house these colours, they are so gorgeous!

Some of these dried brown leaves still cling to the bare limbs of Trees, and look wonderful contrasted against a blue sky!
Daylight Savings happens this coming weekend, and I am very happy about that. Another hour of sunlight in the evenings, what could be nicer! All winter I go to work in the dark, and come home as it gets dark. I feel light deprived! So I love Daylight Savings and more of the light!
Have a great weekend, everyone!!

I can see the Forest for the Trees.

Scenic Sunday
Cultass Lake is located outside of Chilliwack in the Fraser Valley. It is a miniature tourist mecca in the summer with campers, hikers, boaters and swimmers coming to enjoy its beauty. We spent an afternoon here taking photos of a friend's service Dog and captured some of the local scenery as well.
Shadow Shot Sunday 2
And because it is one of my favorite shots, I am also going to post it here!

Project 52 - A Great Leap

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

Willband Creek is located halfway between Mission and Abbotsford, B.C. It is home to many varieties of birds and also possesses a couple of loops around the park for people to walk along. And some lessons to be learned as well, so I found out!

It was one of those nice dry days, albiet after a few days of rain, and  Hubby and I went to visit and go for a walk. He took the short loop.

I took the long loop path around the Sanctuary which was fine, lots of beatiful scenery, nice day, with a few people enjoying their walk as well.
No wind, so easy to get some awesome reflections on the water.
So far all is well!

I had just about finished the long loop and could see the parking lot within eye shot, when I came to a part of the path that was not dry. In fact it was a long section of thick wet mud. Lots of mud. And water, in fact it was a bit flooded. Now I could of gone around, back the way I came and had a doubly long walk. After all, it was a nice day. But I could see the goal line aka: the parking lot.
And its really not me to just walk away from a little obstacle like a bunch of mud. (Sorry I did not take a photo of the mud for you!) So I braved it. I walked on. Rather I squelched my way through, and at one point up to my ankle in that said mud. Would of sucked my shoe off if my shoelaces weren't tied as tight as they were. I made it through, upright on my feet but muddy for the effort.
There wasn't any Giant Leap I could of taken that would of got me through that mud unscathed. I should of gone back the way I came. Sometimes you have to backtrack to get back on track. I missed my Giant Leap and saw it in hindsight. But I lived to tell you about it!!!
