Some Good Water

Last week I showed you all a bunch of pictures of the Medicine Hat Flood, which now is receding and everyone is now going through the steps to put their lives and homes back together again. That was a bad water event, so this week I thought I would take you to some fun water!
These are taken in West Edmonton Mall and are photos of the main water feature in the heart of the mall. It includes a Pirate Ship which you can tour and an underground submarine you can travel in. Such a cool ride!

You can see all the stores that are located all around the top and level floors of the mall. You have good vantage points looking down and into the water feature.

A bridge to traverse from one side to the other.

The Pirate Ship

Sea lions live here too!

I love the patterns on the water in this small boat shot. It looks like its just waiting for someone to row the boat!

I hope you get to visit the Mall someday, it is huge! I am sure that we only got to see about one sixth of the entire thing in the six hours we were there. We will go back next time we are in Edmonton.
It was much more fun to watch these waters than it was to watch the flood waters last week.

Change.

It started with a nice walk in the park, along the river.
Just one Caterpillar, climbing up my Hubby's leg. At the time we were having a deep discussion about changes, as we were walking. Thinking that we might have to readdress our goals and what our timelines were working out to be.
And along came a Caterpillar.
If you can get past the phase of Caterpillars eating every leaf in sight and spinning cacoons here there and everywhere, and wait the time it takes for them to morph into a beautiful butterfly, then its not so bad.
Caterpillars change. The change is inevitable. They either die or they change.

Its the same with change. Its inevitable. You can't stay the same, stagnant and going nowhere. Change makes sure it moves you, even into unknown territory. You must change.
And there are many ways to suffer the death of not moving with the change.
We talked about the changes we were facing, the fact that those things we wanted might not be the things we needed.

Its strange how Caterpillars all congregate onto one spot on the trunk of the tree. Why there?
Its kind of like thoughts. You get something in your mind It stays there, going round and round. And grows. It eats into the wood. It marks the spot, especially if you don't do anything to rid yourself of it.
We had a lot of things to wade through and search through to get to the bottom. It was marking the spot.
We had to address it.
One day the butterfly will emerge.
We will see the change.

Pink Seems to be my Color!

It took quite a while for flowering pink blossoms to show up, but now that they are here, I can't get enough of them. I hope you don't get sick of my little obsesssion!
I just feel that as they are only here for a little while, you have to seize the moment, so to speak. I wait all year for pink, and it is always worth the wait!

The little splashes of red amongst all the pink is like tiny jewels. I love it!

Pale to Light to Dark Pink to Red, lovely tones.

Finally, I am in the Pink!

I have been waiting weeks for pink! And finally finally I found some. I found it right in the front yard after returning home from spending a few days away in Edmonton.
These lovely pink blossoms bloomed while we were gone and greeted us as we drove up the driveway. I had to wait until the next morning to get some photos as it was just getting dark in the late evening when we arrived home.
The next morning I got up, dressed fast and grabbed my camera and raced upstairs, all excited to take some photos and what did I see.
Wind. Lots of wind. 40 km/hour winds with gusts of wind up to 100 km/hour.
And the wind lasted for two days. It blew and stormed and blew some more.
At that rate, there would not of been a pink petal left to photograph.
So if I wanted any kind of photo of pink blossoms and I did, I had to get out there in a hurricane (it felt like one anyways) and hope I could adjust my shutter speed up high enough to take photos. And not get knocked over. And keep my hair from flying in front of the camera and into my eyes.
Oh, the challenges.

So these three photos are the start of my adventure on windy days taking pink blossom photos. I am glad I got them as today they look worse for wear, the edges of the delicate pink blossoms looking more ragged and turning brown.
I will be posting more in the next few days. I would post them all right now but my internet is slower than molasses right now.
I was patient trying to take these so you will have to come back and see some more- be patient!!

St. Margaret's Historic Church

P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday with Kent Weakley
St. Margaret's Anglican historic Church is located in Medicine Lodge Coulee in Alberta Cypress Hills. The church was originally built in 1907 and fully restored in 1992.
My hubby and I chanced to see a sign advertising the church on a recent drive, so we went out in search of it.

The Church was open to the public, honestly I think it is never closed as there were not any foot prints around it at all, just huge snowbanks and drifts. We had to plow our way through them to get up into the church.

Outside of the church is a Cemetary. Some of the stones were quite recent. A note inside the church said you can still get buried here, ashes only. No coffins.

The inside of the Church was still decorated for Christmas. A decorated tree up in the corner and decorations on the alter as well.

Standing just inside the door looking into the Church.

The decorated alter and the tree.
The old Organ. My hubby wanted to play it in the worst way.

A note inside also said that there weren't any regular scheduled services anymore, and that the only people who came to worship now were those, like us, that came to visit.

Stained glass windows adorned each side of the church. Hard to see them here, as the light coming through was very bright.

The Church is heated by a wood stove.

After leaving the Church to go back to the car, my hubby kindly plowed a path through the drifting snowbank for me to walk through. On the way in to the church I managed to find a hole and fall through up to my hips in snow. Hard to extricate myself from that!
I still managed to find another hole and land on my derriere in the snow on the way back though, despite his clearing an excellent path for me to walk in.

A view of some of the tombstones and further of the view from the church.

The Church Bell.

Another view of the gorgeous view!

I have to say I have been having some sweet days lately.
Oh, and some sweet treats too!
