Eggs Easy Under

This tiny little Quail puffed out her feathers so she looked a lot bigger and wider than she actually was so that she could completely cover all the eggs she was sitting on.
She was so tiny that when she did get up and take a break we were so surprised that she was sitting on 7eggs.
I mean, they took up more space than she did!
It was such a surprise!

Deer Me

On one of our excursions out to see this new province we are in, we went to Elkwater, which is out of Medicine Hat and going toward the Saskatchewan border. It had snowed quite a bit the day before we went, but was nice and sunny on this day.
One of the things that continues to surprise us here is the number and frequency of deer sightings we see. We see them by themselves or in groups of two or three. We see herds of deer as well.

They don't seem too concerned having us close enough to take photos of them.

While one watches us, the others take their time eating their meal.
We have also seen herds of deer in the farmer's fields here in Elkwater and also by Echodale just outside of Medicine Hat. I'm sure in these herds there are a hundred or more deer milling about.

These deer were hanging out in one of the yards along the main road of Elkwater.

I have photos of the herds of deer we have seen that I will post at a later date!

Road Trip

P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday with Kent Weakley
A few pictures from our recent road trip from our place in Abbotsford out to Medicine Hat in Alberta. These photos were taken while driving through Roger's Pass, the road up and over the Rocky Mountain pass. A fresh snowfall the evening before made the roads very slippery and dangerous with ice and snow.
I just know that this is not the way to park your 18 Wheel Semi. We slid a bit on a patch of ice just before rounding the corner and coming upon this accident.
This pass was one of the areas that I was scared to travel through.
Winter in these areas of B.C. are a dangerous time for travelling or road trips.

We made it to our destination in one piece, thanks to my Hubby who is an awesome driver n any kind of road condition. Left to my own devices I would of flown out rather than drive!!
