The heron sanctuary is located across a small river and to take these pictures we went up on the dyke systems that ran through the farmer's fields.

From a distance all the black spots you see are heron nests. Lots of them!!!
Nice photos. It must be nice to see so many herons. I saw two today they very interesting birds.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of nests! I imagine this will be quite the sight when eggs start to hatch.
ReplyDeleteThe dark color branches of the branches makes the light blue sky look really pretty!
ReplyDeletegreat skywatch.
Very nice captures! Happy SWF :)
ReplyDeletethat first shot is wonderful enlarged...and the one with all the nests WOW
ReplyDeleteI have never seen so many herons/nests at one place. I had no idea they would build nests so close together. Apparently, they all remember whose is whose!
ReplyDeleteReally, really nice! Great birds.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that is fantastic -- especially that last photo w/ all the nests!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a wonderful w/e.
Great nature shots...and filled with wonderful textures and contrasts.
ReplyDeleteI love the herons...
Ms.Dew: You did the same photos I did for camera critters for SWF. These heron rookeries have many uses.
